In Bali, Indonesia, Fr. Stephanos Boik, with the blessing of His Eminence Constantine of Singapore, has purchased a water purifying machine to create revenue for the Orthodox churches in that area. Fr. Stephanos is heading up the initiative and is excited about being able to implement an idea that will be used for the good of the Church.
The money to purchase the machine was donated through OCMC as part of a revolving loan initiative. Funds used to purchase the equipment will be paid back through the revenue created from the project. The money reimbursed will then be used to generate other projects that benefit the Church and produce revenue.
The hope is that this initiative will enable and encourage Orthodox Christians around the world to think of ways they can impact their local churches with their creative ideas. It is also the hope that such projects will push local churches toward self-sustainability.
