Last night we visited the parish of San Marcos Evangelista (St. Mark’s) in Tres caminos Agua Alegre Chiantla (over 10,000 ft up in the mountains) where 74 new members were brought into the Orthodox Christian faith through the sacrament of Chrismation.
They were Chrismated by Fr. Evangelos, vicar of the Orthodox Church in Guatemala, Fr. Daniel Muxtay, rector of Holy Ascension in Pebilpam, Guatemala, and Archimandrite Juvenal Repass, OCMC Missionary.
Every 3 months the seminary (St. Andrew’s) turns into a publishing house as they turn out liturgical calendars for the over 150 Orthodox communities in Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico. The calendars are used as daily guides for things like: saints, fasting, hymns, daily readings, as well as many explanations on various aspects of the Orthodox faith. God bless all the hands that go into such an extensive project, and give them strength to continue. Gloria a Dios!
A wonderful parish visit to Holy Trinity community in Inchehuex (apparently the X is not pronounced). On top of the Divine Liturgy there we 4 simultaneous weddings, 5 baptism and a number of confessions. Gloria a Dios!
2 communities in as many days in Chiapas, Mexico celebrating the feast of the transfiguration. First community, in Playa Azul, we had 8 Crismations, and in the second community, Nueva Victoria, we had 10 baptisms. Also we saw the beginnings of a new church building in another area, Santa Rosa.
Gloria a Dios! Glory to God!
